About us - Justice-4all

I am a McKenzie Friend who is based in Skegness. If you feel that the cost of a Solicitor prohibits you from employing legal representation then a McKenzie Friend may be an alternative option. Equally, you may feel you do not trust Solicitors.

Not only is the employment of Justice-4all a fraction of the cost of a Solicitor but equally, it is entirely trustworthy.

A McKenzie Friend is a person who assists a "litigant in person" (someone representing themselves) in a UK court. While they are most common in family court (divorce, child custody, etc.), they can also assist in civil and criminal proceedings.

What a McKenzie Friend Can Do-

McKenzie Friends provide "reasonable assistance" during court hearings and preparation for a trial/hearing in court Moral Support: Offering encouragement and a calming presence during stressful hearings. Note-Taking: Keeping a record of what is said by the judge, witnesses, and the other party. Paperwork: Helping organise court bundles, filling in forms, and drafting witness statements. Quiet Advice: Discreetly suggesting questions to ask witnesses or points of law to raise.

What a McKenzie Friend Cannot Do-

Unless specifically granted "rights of audience" by a judge, they are restricted from: Speaking in Court: They cannot address the judge, make oral submissions, or examine witnesses. Acting as an Agent: They cannot sign court documents or manage the case outside of the courtroom. Providing Regulated Legal Advice: They are not qualified solicitors or barristers and are generally not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

Types of McKenzie Friends -

Lay/Volunteer: Friends or family members who help for free. Charity Volunteers: Provided by organisations like Support Through Court. Professional (Fee-Charging): Individuals who charge for their services. These range from experienced paralegals to those with no formal training.
